Dear Computer Therapist: My keyboard suddenly stopped working while I was in
the middle of entering information into a spreadsheet. I had to use the mouse to
exit the application. Is there anything I can do if it happens again?
                                                                        - Disconnected
Dear Disconnected: Windows 2000 has a feature called the 'On-Screen Keyboard'
which allows you to use mouse clicks to enter keystrokes thus bypassing a non-
functional keyboard. To access this feature click the Start button ► Programs ►
Accessories ► Accessibility ► On-Screen Keyboard.

Dear Computer Therapist: My system has suddenly started to misbehave.
Programs have been slow to load. Some menus don't even display. Please help.
                                                                        - Sluggish
Dear Sluggish: Your system may be running low on system resources. You may be
able to find out which processes are the resource hogs. First close any open
windows. Then right-click an empty area of the Windows Taskbar ► Task Manager
► Processes tab ► double-click the CPU column heading. If the percentage is
high for a given process (except the System Idle Process which should have a high
number) , then that process may be causing the sluggish performance. If you are
certain that the process is not needed select it ►End Process.

Dear Computer Therapist: I'm nervous about other users of my computer
downloading and installing some rogue program that could damage important files
on my system. Is there a way to prevent this from occurring?
                                                                        - Worried
Dear Worried: You could try giving other users of your computer 'Restricted'
accounts. To change a current user to a restricted account: Click Start ► Run ►
type: 'control userpasswords' ► select the account ► Properties ► 'Restricted
User' ► OK. To create a 'Restricted User' account: Click Add ► follow the
instructions of the wizard ► choose 'Restricted User' where appropriate. Now only
you, the Administrator account, can install software, or alter the system
configuration.
